The American gothic horror novelist Anne Rice announced she regained the theatrical rights to the series of books revealing a possible adaptation of the series of books to TV series. Fans were thrilled when they heard the news. Anne Rice and her son, Christopher Rice are developing a pilot script for an open-eye series.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Anne is thrilled with how her fans reacted to the announcement, she got more than 2,800,000 hits. It’s always great to know you have this kind of support. The script is still in the planning stage, nothing is firm yet, except they want to star with the second book “The Vampire Lestat”. According to Anne, it couldn’t be a better time for any novelist to be adapting a book, TV is in a golden age right now. From every actor, Anne would love to see Matthew MacFadyen, the British actor, in Marius’s character. Marius is one of the pillars of the Chronicles – 2,000 years old.
According to Deadline, “The Vampire Chronicles” began with 1976’s “Interview With The Vampire”, where Louis, French colonial aristocrat in the 18th century was introduced and turned into a undead bloodsucker by the charismatic and dangerous Lestat. The book continued in 1985’s where Lestat was made the main protagonist and the subsequent books were oriented on his further adventures which includes exploring the origins of vampires, an encounter with Satan and trip to Atlantis.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Anne Rice realized that her stories are better suited for TV and she is working with her son Christopher Rice on a pilot script for open-eye series. She addressed to her fans saying she heard them, she has always heard them, what they want is what she wants and the vampires belong on TV.
The release date of “Vampire Chronicle” is still unknown, the books have been published from 1976 until 2016.
