At this point, Grand Theft Auto 5 doesn't need anything additional to generate hype for its impending release. Hell, it probably never did. But that's not stopping GameStop from trying to ride its coat tails.
The retailer is offering one of the game's cars, a Bravado Banshee, to a single winner. But much like there is with everything, there's a catch. The pool of contestants is limited to gamers with a Power Up Rewards Card. If you never bothered to use points before, this seems like a pretty good time to do so. To win the Banshee, you'll have to spend the points you've been saving up, at 200 points per entry, with some savings offered for bulk entries "purchased" - 7 entries for 1,000 points, and 15 entries for 2,000 points. Each contestant gets 17 entries per day.
Just keep in mind that the car isn't wholly original. As the contest rules point out, "The Grand Theft Auto V Bravado Banshee Sports Car is a used 2013 car that has been customized to resemble the fictional Bravado Banshee Sports Car from the game Grand Theft Auto V." According to the gear heads over at Autoblog, it looks like the car was "crafted using a Viper as its base (a fourth- or fifth-generation car seems likely)." Used car or not, you have to admit, it looks pretty cool. Gamer or not, it'd be pretty cool to have this sitting in your driveway.
West Coast Customs shop of reality TV fame did all the work on the car, and even went the full nine to make the interior of the car more "gamer friendly." According to a press release, "The dashboard, door panels and center console were reconfigured and finished with carbon inlays."
In addition to the car, the winner will also receive a check worth $70,000, best used on insurance in case of the delicious irony if you're ever carjacked driving this thing through the bad part of town.
