The Oscar-winner, Eddie Redmayne brought magic back to the cinemas as Newt Scamander in JK Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them." It transported fans back into the witchcraft and wizarding world of "Harry Potter" minus the actual "Harry Potter" characters. Whovians, a collective name for "Doctor Who" fans saw the magic too.
Eddie is also noted for his other critically acclaimed films, "Les Miserables," "The Theory Of Everything," and "The Danish Girl." His latest, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" is a certified box office hit.
Eddie Redmayne is busy as he is with working on the sequels of "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them." His role in the movie actually gave fans a Doctor-ish vibe and "Doctor Who" fans just want that possibility to be concretized by sending petitions online.
In an interview with BBC Radio1 in the UK, he was asked regarding his response to these petitions for him to be the next Doctor in "Doctor Who." Rather than dismissing it, he was delighted with the idea.
Redmayne spoke that he did see the resemblance with the wardrobe, the scarf, the bowtie and the coat. He expressed his admirations of the actors playing The Doctor in "Doctor Who," with a special mention of Matt Smith.
He adds that the briefcase he had in "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" is like the TARDIS. He admits "Doctor Who" is a great show and he would love to play The Doctor.
The fashion movement of the set in "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" is quite identical to those of the Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant, and Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith. The suitcase and "Doctor Who's" TARDIS are both bigger on the inside.
There were news that Peter Capaldi is leaving "Doctor Who" after next year's season 10. Redmayne's role in "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" seemed like his audition to be the next Doctor.
Redmayne is a proud Brit and "Doctor Who" is a British institution, so it isn't far-fetched. On BBC's "Children In Need" charity sketch Eddie Redmayne and Peter Capaldi appeared as their characters. Newt Scamander gives The Doctor a call to help him track down one of his fantastic beasts.
Screenrant reported that fans have been tweeting with the hashtag #CamapignForRedmayne. It's a petition for the "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" star to audition for "Doctor Who" as The Doctor.
Hopefully, by the time Peter Capaldi would opt out from the show after three full seasons, Eddie Redmayne may have some free time to shoot for "Doctor Who" by then. Until then, fans will just enjoy "Doctor Who" and "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" separately.
