Fresh off from their third team up from "Magnificent Seven," film director Antoine Fuqua and actor Denzel Washington reunites yet again. This time, for the upcoming action movie, "The Equalizer 2." Producer Todd Black confirmed the news during a Q & A panel following a screening of The Magnificent Seven, producer Todd Black revealed that the sequel to 2014's "The Equalizer" will begin production around May 2017 as reported by Cinemablend.
Looking deeper at his statements, it seems that the current release for "The Equalizer 2" of September 29, 2017 will now be pushed back. The reason behind this move is due to Fuqua and his team will only start filming on September. In addition, he says that filming schedule may greatly hinges on Washington's availability since the actor might shift focus on other projects.
In line with this, Collider reports, "The Equalizer 2" does not only serve as a first sequel on Washington's acting career but, more importantly, the actor's first franchise role. Apparently, Todd Black and Denzel Washington had known each other for 27 years and the producer have always been open with the idea of having Denzel Washington in a franchise role.
With all these details revealed it is now confirmed that "The Equalizer 2" is indeed coming despite facing production schedule issues. Although there has been little information about its plot, judging from the previous film it's almost certain that "The Equalizer 2 "will be one of the most awaited films that fans are looking forward to. The film is expected to be released as early as September 14, 2018.
"The Equalizer 2" is a film adaptation based on the 1980's television series "The Equalizer" and acts as a direct sequel to 2014's "The Equalizer" which depicted Denzel Washington as Robert McCall, who is speculated to be a former Black Ops commando who faked his death to live a quiet life, but comes out of retirement to deliver his own brand of justice against the corrupt people within his community.
