"Star Trek: Discovery" casts is almost complete for its gigantic return on the CBS network's digital streaming in mid 2017. Finally set to join the cast is Mechelle Yeoh who will be playing as the Starfleet Captain Georgiou. In addition, Doug Jones will board the ship as the alien Lt. Saru and Anthony Rapp as the gay astromycologist character Lt. Stamets.
In a report by Gamenguide, "Star Trek: Discovery" will be brought to the web streaming service of Netflix and CBS networks or CBS All Access. The story arc revolves on the re-appearance in space of the Discovery air ship taken from "NASA's" airship "Discovery" on the Space Odyssey 2001 journey. In this series, Bryan Fuller will not run the show but he will be replaced by Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg.
"Star Trek: Discovery", will depict the mission that takes place 10 years before the 5-year mission of TOS. As stated in NCC-1031, the USS Discovery embarked on a space voyage before the Enterprise because its number is "NCC-1031" while that of the former is "1701" with Captain Kirk in command. The USS Discovery's timeline is set between a 10-30 years mission into space sometime in the Khitomer Peace Treaty of the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire.
In a report by TVLine, "Star Trek: Discovery", which will be composed of 13 episodes will try to create the connection between the original Star Trek series and the Enterprise. Thus, the Discovery will fill in the gap to create a full picture of the Star Trek space voyage sci-fi thriller in the history of US television.
"Star Trek: Discovery" will have its great opening day on CBS in May 2017, instead of the earlier announced January 2017 air date. After that it will be moved to CBS All Access for web streaming.
