Huawei Mate 9 Lite News & Update: Device Now Available In US Markets; Why Mobile Carriers Will Not Offer Mate 9 Lite

The latest member of the Huawei's Mate 9 family is the Mate 9 Lite. It entered the U.S. market just this November. The Chinese manufacturer, Huawei may have a problem selling their Huawei Mate 9 Lite on US soil.

The Huawei Mate 9 Lite, as we can see in its official name, is a mid-range smartphone. In terms of performance, this device can't compete with other Mate devices. Among Huawei's Mate 9 clan, this without surprise, is the cheapest.

Huawei's Mate 9 Lite has a full metal body for a more solid feel. The phone comes in a 5.5 inch touch screen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels. The dimensions of the device is 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm, and weighs 162g.

The Huawei Mate 9 Lite houses a 12MP + 2MP camera sensors with the main camera having a phase detection autofocus and 1.25nm pixels and an 8 megapixel front facing camera. The second sensor is for adding depth to the photos for a bokeh filer effect.

The minor version, Huawei Mate 9 Lite, is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 655 octa-core processor. It runs on an Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Huawei's EMUI 4.1. It comes in two internal storage options --32GB with 3GB of RAM and 64GB with 4GB of RAM.

Now that Mate 9 Lite is out, reports are emphasizing that U.S. carriers should stay away from the device. A congressional report last 2012 strongly recommended U.S. carriers not to offer Huawei devices because China might spy over Americans. Huawei has rejected those claims and accusations but all carriers are not willing to sell Huawei products, and because of this Huawei Mate 9 Lite might have low sales figures.

This is not the only problem Huawei is facing. Since Verizon and Sprint are using CDMA networks, some changes must be made to Huawei Mate 9 Lite's chipset. That leaves with two other carriers left in the US: AT&T and T-Mobile.

Unluckily, Huawei is having issues with T-Mobile so it's unlikely a partnership will happen. That leaves with only AT&T that could offer Huawei Mate 9 Lite in the United States.

It is still to seal Huawei Mate 9 Lite's faith. For latest scoops, only here in Gamenguide.
