Anime fans of "Cardcaptor Sakura" rejoice! Who's excited to see Li Syaoran and Sakura in a new animation series again? Well, CLAMP waited for over 10 years to officially inform fans that a new anime of the cute magical girl again.
"Cardcaptor Sakura" is one of the many magic transformation anime that got out in 1998, along with "Sailor Moon" and "Magic Knights Rayearth." It became popular to anime fans because of its interesting and adventure plot, the cute anime protagonist, and the equally adorable boy who has always been with her.
According to Anime News Network, "Cardcaptor Sakura" will feature returning casts like Sakura Tange voice the titular role of Sakura Kinomoto, Aya Hisakawa as her magical assistant known as Keroberos, Junko Iwao voicing Tomoyo Daidoji, Motoko Kumai as the ever popular Li Syaoran, Megumi Ogata as Yukito Tsukishiro and Tomokazu Seki as Toya Kinomoto. Director Moria Asaka will once again take the reins in directing the new anime series.
CLAMP announced the new project this year as 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the "Cardcaptor Sakura" manga and will start airing the new anime in 2018, exactly 20 years since the original anime first aired in 1998.
Following the 20th anniversary celebration of the "Cardcaptor Sakura" manga, CLAMP also released a limited edition manga series back in June that follows an older Sakura who is now a 1st year middle school student. The sequel follows Sakura after waking up from a strange dream that will change her life forever.
Further news and information about the anime are still not clear but fans are expecting that more details will come out in the coming months. The anime "Cardcaptor Sakura" ran for two years, and produced two full-length films in 1999 and 2000. For more news and updates, stay tuned in Game & Guide.
