"The Last Ship" had a thrilling and dramatic episode finale in its third season and fans are happy to know that fourth and fifth seasons will be shown until the summer of 2018.
In Season 3, The CNO, Captain Chandler (Eric Dane), decided to leave his beloved ship and crew. According to TVFanatic, the finale just showed how respectable and heroic leader Tom Chandler is. The fate of USS Nathan James and Captain Chandler is still unclear for the upcoming two seasons, but, TNT guaranteed that Nathan James will keep on sailing to save the world.
Looking back on Season 3's final episode, the show's hero had to face the consequences of his latest actions by punishing himself. Although most viewers would disagree with Chandler's choice, it was, in fact, the most righteous decision because he was aware that no one would make him accountable for his actions.
With Chandler's role still uncertain for the coming new seasons of "The Last Ship," TNT is looking forward and teasing fans for more action, drama and suspense until the summer of 2018, according to Deadline.
TNT is planning a back-to-back shooting of the two new seasons which both have 10 episodes. The creators, Hank Steinberg and Steven Kane, will still be the showrunners for Season 4 while Kane will become the only showrunner for Season 5. Since the show's solid high-ratings, a two-season renewal is an easy decision for TNT. For the past three seasons, the show has an average of 7.1 million audiences per episode.
"The Last Ship" all-star cast includes Eric Dane of Grey's Anatomy and Adam Baldwin of Chuck. In Season 3, they are joined by Bridget Regan, Charles Parnell, Marissa Neitling, Travis Van Winkle, Christina Elmore, Bren Foster and Jocko Sims. The series is based on the 1988 bestselling novel of William Brinkley.
For now, one thing is certain for "The Last Ship." Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin) will lead the valiant crew and continue the journey of Nathan James as its captain.
