"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" have become the fastest-selling Nintendo Game in the US ever. Nintendo confirmed that they are the fastest selling games in the company's history in both US and Europe. The company further stated that the 3DS games sold 3.7 million units. Noteworthy, the game was launched on Nov.18.
"Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon" are also the most pre-ordered games in Nintendo history. The sale of the Games has increased 85% as compared with "Pokemon X and Y" which is the previous record holder over the similar period of time, as reported by The Verge. "Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon" have sold 1.5 million units in Europe in the first week of their launch, which also includes 368,000 unit sold in the UK. In Japan, the games sold 1.9 million units within the first three days which is quite close to "Pokemon X and Y."
After the release of "Pokemon Go", 3DS sales has been increased in the US. During July it became the top selling system overall. Interestingly, the entire Pokemon series has sold more than 280 million units worldwide since its debut in 1996. Presently, "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" are the best-selling 3DS games ever. The games have sold 15.64 million unit until September 30, reported Gamespot.
"Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon" have several new features which might have helped with their rapid sale. However, the credit must go to "Pokemon Go" which created a frenzy among gamers. Moreover, in August Nintendo admitted that the game's success has boosted the sale of main games on 3DS.
