It's been three years already since the release of the hit Disney animated film "Frozen." And now fans are looking forward for its sequel which is expected to be as popular as the first. "Frozen 2" is currently under development but there is no specific date of release and official cast news yet.
According to reports, "Frozen 2" will be hitting the big screen sometime in 2018. There is no word though if it will arrive early, mid or later in the year. And just like the release date, nothing is certain yet with the voice cast after rumors suggest that Idina Menzel will be leaving the sequel.
Menzel voiced the main character Elsa in the first movie which is why fans are also expecting that she will be back for "Frozen 2." But reports suggest that the 45-year old actress will need to skip the sequel because of her tight schedule. She is also currently busy preparing for her wedding and this could be the reason why she will need to step down from the role.
Menzel also previously spoke to an interview with Miley Cyrus during the time she filled in the spot for Ellen DeGeneres in her show because she was sick. Cyrus asked Menzel about "Frozen 2" and where she sees is going creatively. Menzel only answered that she honestly has no idea and that she is just a "servant of Disney."
If Menzel does leave, it will be completely different without her. This could also mean that Disney will have to look for a replacement. Rumor has it that top at the list to replace Menzel is pop star Demi Lovato who also recorded her own rendition of the famous "Let It Go" song which was featured in the film. Reports say that Lovato's voice range is the closest to Menzel's so it's no surprise if she will get the part in "Frozen 2."
But there are also other rumors saying that Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Rihanna are potential cast members. As of the moment, Disney has not made any comments regarding the speculations so fans will have to take reports with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for the official "Frozen 2" updates.
