Fans are still waiting for "Half-Life 3" but no new announcement from Valve has ever been released. The question is, will the company still produce the third installment? If so, when can the game be expected to arrive?
It has been nine years since "Half-Life 2" was introduced, but a follow-up game has yet to come. Indeed, fans have been waiting for so long now and they just needed some confirmation for "Half-Life 3."
With the lack of update from Valve, fans found a way to reach out to the big wigs of the gaming company. They figured that they can use the Steam Awards to tell Valve that they want "Half-Life 3" right now.
The Steam Awards was recently launched and its award nomination system has a part where voters can propose a category name. Many suggested funny names but what caught the attention of many is the award category created by someone using the handle name of GruffBarbarian.
He suggested the "Game That Deserves a Sequel" award and fans started voting for "Half-Life 2." This means that they are pushing for "Half-Life 3" and Valve should know that many want it badly through the votes.
The category already gathered more than 6,000 votes and still going up. Obviously, Valve should seriously consider "Half-Life 3" since they owe it to the fans that the game series has been going strong for about 20 years now.
Release Date
Based on speculations, "Half-Life 3" might be launched in 2018 if Valve indeed decided to make it. This was the predicted time of release because it is the year when the original Half-Life is marking its 20th anniversary.
Finally, with the extended gap between "Half-Life 3" and "Half-Life 2," players is looking forward to a better version with lots of improvements added. Some are also anticipating huge changes in the gamestory to achieve a different kind of game experience.
