The current year has been a breeding ground for superhero movies that it became one of the major reasons why the movie industry is exploring sequels and superhero movie franchises. One movie that has Marvel fans waiting is "Logan."
As played and popularized by Hugh Jackman, the last movie of the "Wolverine" series, "Logan" will tell the story about what lies ahead for the mutants. The film is set in the future, one year after "Days of the Future Past", and mutants are slowly becoming extinct. It also, quite obviously, shows that Logan is losing his powers in a sense that his healing ability is starting to slow down.
The trailer for the movie reveals that Logan is attending a funeral, of what seems to be someone close to him. Fans are theorizing this to be Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) who dies because he is trying to protect someone. That someone could be Laura, or more popularly known as X-23. Speculations have it that the three of them, Logan, Professor Xavier and Laura are hiding out in a woodland home and were attacked, urging Xavier to push one last massive power to save the three of them. This could be very plausible as it could lead "Logan" to protect X-23 and lead the new X-Men himself.
"Logan" also showcases the group called Reavers, which is led by Donald Pierce (Boyd Holbrook), the main antagonist of the movie. As what fans know, in the comics, Pierce led an all-out attack against the X-Men but found only Wolverine. They ended up torturing and crucifying him, leaving Wolverine to die.
Director of the movie, James Mangold, already emphasized that "not everyone will make it out of this one alive." Fans will have to know what his words mean when "Logan" premieres in March next year.
