Latest reports about the game "Tekken 7" suggests that it will be released on February 7, next year. Additionally, there are also speculations that it will be included in the new Nintendo console Switch. These reports were further supported by Katsuhiro Harada, the game producer of "Tekken" saying that he will have a surprise when the Nintendo console news was revealed. Following the launch of the game is supposedly the continuation of the development of a new game called "Tekken X Street Fighter."
In his interview with GameSpot in April, Harada discussed what they have planned for the game. "When we develop fighting games, we try to keep the core community in mind as well as the wider audience that wants to play these games," he told the publication. "But currently the situation is with fighting games, you have Street Fighter V that just released - a lot of people are playing that fervently - and there's a crowd out there waiting for Tekken 7." He also added, "We don't want to split these communities, so a good window in which to release Tekken x Street Fighter is something that's become difficult recent. So it's on hold for the moment."
More recently, Harada hinted that development for the game "Tekken X Street Fighter" is now on the table. "Tekken 7" producer Katsuhiro Harada urges fans to "stay tuned" when asked about the fighting game crossover, "Tekken X Street Fighter."
The appearance of Akuma in "Tekken 7" could be a clue to this development. The "Tekken" producer recently revealed that Akuma is part of the story of "Tekken 7" instead of just being a guest character. "Akuma may be a special case. It's not like other games where we take the character and put him in the character lineup and that's it. He's actually part of the story and the game - not just the backstory but actually in the story mode itself." This could be a clue that they are preparing for "Tekken X Street Fighter."
