With the Note 7's exploding controversy that affected so much of its sales and reputation, Samsung is expected to release a model that will rebuild its image and regain the trust of its lost customers.
South Korean's ET News revealed that Samsung Electronics is introducing a new feature with the release of next year's Samsung Galaxy S8. This new enhancement is an automatic focus (AF) feature using the front camera to improve selfie shots.
Given this announcement, it is expected that a lot of its competitors will also be focusing on improving its camera phones and even adopt this auto-focus feature.
To make this possible, Samsung has to add the encoder-type AF actuator in Galaxy 8's front camera to control the location as well as adjust the focus of the lenses when the front-facing shooter is used. With this, the camera will easily detect subjects that will lead to good quality selfie pictures.
According to an industry's representative, "People are starting to take more selfies and number of demands for cameras that take selfies with higher qualities is increasing." Hence, the increase of demand for a high-quality front camera. It also added, "It is heard that Samsung Electronics has decided to install front actuators for Galaxy S8 in order to differentiate its flagship Smartphone."
Meanwhile, aside from the auto-focus feature, Samsung Galaxy S8 will also have an AI assistant named "Bixby" to match Apple's Siri, Google Assistant, and Microsoft's Cortana. In the article of The Android Soul, Rhee In-jong, Samsung's vice president confirmed that its loyal fans can expect the introduction of an assistant app solely for Samsung devices. A lot of rumors led to a name "Bixby" which is the company's trademark whose meaning is the same as of an AI software based on voice.
Additionally, Samsung Galaxy S8 is also rumored to be the first smartphone to run on company's own Exynos 8895 SoC partnered with either 4GB or 6GB RAM.
