'Street Fighter V' DLC Speculations: Possible New Character Reveal During 'Capcom Cup 2016'

Fans of "Street Fighter V" are anticipating the some major announcements this weekend during the "Capcom Cup 2016" tournament. Given that all of the first set of DLC characters has already been released, players are expecting the next round of new fighters to be announced. A trailer shown during the Red Bull "Battle Grounds" competition led fans to speculate Akuma's arrival.

According to a recent report from GamenGuide, "Street Fighter V" producer Yoshinori Ono denied Akuma's appearance in the game. However, he was quick to point out that upcoming announcement will betray fan's expectations, albeit in a good way. Akuma's crossover presence in "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" have reportedly justified his non-appearance in the current roster.

Another report from Shoryuken is entertaining the theory that the newest character to join "Street Fighter V" would be Goutetsu. A video from Olympic Gaming on YouTube discusses the possibility of Akuma's master making the roster.

The video opens with Olympic Gaming discussing Yoshinori Ono's habit of trolling people with misleading leaks. He then proceeds to talk about Ono's statement denying any confirmation of Akuma appearing in "Street Fighter V." Moreover, he begins to analyze different characters from the game that use kanji symbols, then characters that have dojos in their respective stages. Another clue he points out is that Akuma never had long hair, he then points out to a screenshot of the Akuma trailer, which indicates the character on screen shoulder-length hair.

Goutetsu was initially portrayed as an old martial arts master with short hair and wore prayer beads (Akuma took them after murdering him). Surprisingly, Capcom's CFN portal website has a picture of the master, showing him with a flowing beard with long hair. It seems like fans really need to wait for Ono to make the announcement after the "Capcom Cup 2016" tournament ends, crowing this year's "Street Fighter V" world champion.
