The devil from Stefan’s Christmas past comes back to interrupt his Christmas eve plans
with Caroline in the next episode of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8. Meanwhile, Matt will find closure in his relationship with his father.
According to the official synopsis of the episode, it will be the holidays for the characters of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Stefan (Paul Wesley) has just come from his encounter with Cade (Wole Parks) and he wants more than anything to get one thing at the moment to go right and that is his Christmas Eve with Caroline (Candice Accola).
Too bad for Stefan though because things will not go as expected for him in this “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 episode. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) crashed his Christmas Eve dinner with Caroline. Things will even take a darker turn when Alaric (Matt Davis), Matt (Zach Roerig) and Peter (Joel Gretsch) appears to have accompanied Damon and Sybil.
A series of flashbacks featuring Stefan’s past in the upcoming episode of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 will force him to make an unimaginable decision. This is after Cade will attempt to entice him with his mysterious agenda.
Also in the latest “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 episode, Matt Donovan will get reunited with his estranged father, who finally begins to understand the depth of what his son is going through. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the father and son’s recovery in their relationship.
EP Julie Plec told TVLine that they had to give Matt answers like who his father was and why he left him was important. It was a dangling storyline in the show that has never been told a story about. Plec joked that all Matt did in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 was cry because of his dad’s seeming indifference to him before his emotional reunion with his dad in the episode titled “The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, It Could Be You”. It will be aired on Friday on The CW.
