If you're a little light on experience in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, better hop online, because developer Treyarch has launched another Double XP Weekend for the FPS.
As of right now, the weekend is live on all formats, from PC to Wii U and everything in between. Not a bad time to give the adjustments from the recent Title Update a test drive for you 360 gamers. Players have until this time, Monday, July 29th to enjoy the bonus XP.
If you want the full experience, I'd also reccomend picking up Vengeance, the latest DLC map pack.
The map pack offers a total a four new multiplayer maps, and a new weapon for the zombie mode called the "Ray Gun Mark II," which you can get a sneak peek at here.
The new maps are Cove, Detour, Rush, and Uplink, a re-worked version of the Summit map from the first Black Ops game. There's also a new map for the game's zombie mode called Buried. You can see descriptions of the maps below, and a new trailer showing off Buried at the bottom of the page:
Cove - a deserted island that looks like paradise, but is actually anything but. Scattered rock formations and a crashed airplane can provide for a bit of cover, but you'll have to move fast to stay alive. Interesting tidbit - Keep your eyes to the coast to spot the boat from the Hijacked level.
Detour - a new urban setting where team play has the FBI taking on Mercs atop a decimated bride in Nowheresville, USA. Snipers rule along the bridge's ruined surface, but close combat is the name of the game in the crowded underpass.
Rush - Real soldiers hit up a weekend warrior's favorite haunt: an indoor and outdoor paintball range. Look for the "not an exit" entrance to the staff hero to get the drop on other players.
Uplink - A re-hash of the fan favorite map "Summit" returns as a futuristic mountain top facility, trading in the snowy Ural mountains for the sweaty jungles of Myanmar. Watch your feet around the edges, it's a loooong way down.
Buried - The Green Run group returns in this new zombie map, all set in an abandoned mining town out west. In addition to the new Ray Gun Mark II, players can also find a new revolver, two new wonder weapons, and a new perk on the map. Keep a flask on your person for Leroy, a friendly NPC on the map who'll provide you with some sorely needed assistance. Fighting in the underground's cramped quarters is hectic, but snooping around the mansion is no better, as a restless spirit dogs you all the while.
The map pack is still a timed exclusive for Xbox 360, but it'll hit PC and PS3 set to hit the game on remaining platforms on August 1st. Vengeance is free to gamers who have Black Ops 2's Season Pass, or can be grabbed for 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live for non-Pass holders. The pack will cost the equivalant when it hits other platforms, $14.99 for PlayStation 3 and PC via Steam.
