With the battery explosion fiasco of the Galaxy Note 7, the tech giant has been facing collateral damage as the upcoming flagships, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 are reportedly cancelled. Additionally, there have been rumors saying that Samsung's battery supplier has already backed out.
Battery Supplier Backs Out
There is no denying that the Galaxy Note 7 issue hit it hard for Samsung as consumers and even some of its affiliates have already veered away. Delivering the biggest blow, however, may just have been the in-house battery supplier of the tech giant, SDI. Reports say that SDI may have been facing the brunt of the blame for the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, so they backed out before anything gets out of hand. Will this affect the release of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8?
The debacle had also made SDI lose a total of one-fifth of its subsidiary, leaving the company to pieces in terms of revenues. With this, the company had decided to leave Samsung first as a preemptive measure. With the withdrawal of one of the main battery suppliers of its upcoming flagship devices, it has been speculated by the fans that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be cancelled.
The rumored February 2017 release date for both devices may no longer come to light as the Korean tech giant would want to clean up first before introducing new devices. So, should fans still expect for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Samsung Galaxy S8?
Saving Grace
As part of Samsung's efforts to clean up the mess left by the Galaxy Note 7, the company has assured its consumers that the batteries packed inside the current Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are safe. Fans who remain hopeful and optimistic about the upcoming flagships need not fret, as there still have been no official word from Samsung regarding the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8. A recent report by Forbes has, in fact, revealed that Samsung continues to be a solid brand despite all the issues this year.
What's Next for Samsung
If the supposed launch of the 2017 flagships pushes through, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 would directly compete with tough flagships such as the iPhone 7 and the new Pixel phones. Their top-notch and premium specs have been highly-anticipated by fans and the whole tech world.
