People are using Valve's first prestigious Steam Awards where the Steam Community chooses the nominees to suggest to the publisher and developer to make "Half-Life 3". The Steam Awards nominations started on Nov. 23 and ends on Nov. 29.
The Steam Awards is part of Valve's Autumn Sale and its categories are a little odd, light-hearted and humorous as well. According to Kitguru, the awards doesn't only allow Steam users to vote games but they can also nominate a category, which led them to create the Game That Deserves a Sequel Award to get Valve's attention to make "Half-Life 3".
Although there is no official Game That Deserves a Sequel Award, Steam users believe that showing demand for "Half-Life 3" might make Valve think on making another sequel following the commercial success of "Half-Life 2". The votes of many users for the game's next sequel earned positive responses from the people who want more from the game.
According to Eurogamer, the efforts of Steam Community set off on the "Half-Life" subreddit and it seemed to trigger the people who share the same sentiments with redditor GruffBarbarian on making "Half-Life 3". The post on Reddit received over 6000 upvotes and many redditors support the campaign.
To support the movement, users can go to the "Half-Life 2" episode two page and enter the custom category, which is the Game That Deserves a Sequel. Additionally, the Steam Awards are integrated into Steam's badge system where users can earn and level up through nominating a game and play with it.
The Steam Award Selection Committee decides the awardees, which will base in the write-in submissions. Valve will roll out the awards next month.
