'Scandal' Season 6 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Donald Trump Presidency Affects Show?

"Scandal" Season 6 might not premiere until next year but it looks like people's fatigue with the very divisive election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will affect the show's plot. In the show, former First Lady Mellie Grant ran as the Republican nominee and might be the first female head of state in the United States. But, after Trump's victory surprised many with his win earlier this year, it is rumored that TV producer extraordinaire Shonda Rhimes ordered writers to adjust some of their storylines to reflect what is happening in real life.

The teaser released for "Scandal" Season 6 via Yahoo seems to indicate that someone will die. While that is not sure yet, there is chatter that "Scandal" Season 6 will portray Mellie losing the presidency. While shows in Shondaland always seeks to portray strong powerful women, Rhimes and the writers of the show want to show the sexism that women still experience in society.
