Gareth Bale joins Lionel Messi on FIFA 14 cover

Finally, a new face of the cover of a new FIFA title from EA. According to reports, Tottenham Hotspurs (for the time being) and Wales International player Gareth Bale is set to take his rightful place alongside Argentina and Barcelona star Lionel Messi on the cover of the upcoming FIFA 14 title from EA.

Bale, 23, who was awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year, the PFA Players' Player of the Year and the FWA Footballer of the Year awards for his performance during the 2012-13 season, has no doubt taken yet another small step on his way to become a superstar by being selected for the cover of the title.

"Yeah I play a lot with my friends from home and we have big tournaments when they come to my house and I also play online," Bale told Eurogamer. "So yes, I play a lot. I've played as myself a few times, the stats are good - but obviously everyone wants them to be a bit better. But it's a great game, I enjoy playing it."

“To be on the front cover is a massive honour,” he stated to the Daily Mail. “When you look at the caliber of players that have been on there in the past they are legends of the game, so for me to be here now is a dream come true.”

Bale has already undergone some motion capture work for FIFA 14, mostly highlighting his free kicks and trademark heart celebration: “The things I liked to see most were the free kick technique I use, and the way I take penalties etc. It's all interesting stuff, and to see it on the game makes it more realistic.”

"I did my trademark celebration, the heart. We did a few shots of that and a couple of others which I've done during games last season. It's great to see them back on the screen, and it will be brilliant to see them on the game. Mainly all the celebrations I did last season, such as jumping up and pumping my fist. Also running with my arms out like a plane,” he added.

Gareth Bale has been in contention after scoring a massive 31 goals for Spurs and Wales in the last season, although his current club just missed out on a Champions League, placing fourth to rival London club Arsenal.

FIFA 14 is set to release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Sept. 24 in North America and Sept. 27 for other regions. Check out below how EA managed to catch Bale's techniques.
