Marvel would not replace actor Robert Downey Jr. in “Iron Man 4,” unlike rumors circulating as Marvel President Kevin Feige confirmed the actor still keeps the title role in the superhero movie series. Feige said he cannot envision yet another actor portraying Iron Man.
There were rumors that actress Riri Williams would replace Robert Downey Jr., but instead of the movie being called “Iron Man 4,” it allegedly would be retitled “Ironheart.” However, the latest report said Riri Williams would instead be a new character in the Marvel movie, Parentherald reports.
No Recasting Of Biggest Superheroes
Feigi told Variety that Marvel does not have to decide soon about recasting its biggest superheroes with other actors. Besides "Iron Man 4" actor Robert Downey Jr., another actor rumored who might need recasting is Chris Evans who plays the role of Captain America. He compared Evans to Christopher Reeve who remained the gold standard of Superman. However, in cases when Marvel had to change actors, such “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” the actor who played Spidey was also in Marvel’s “Civil War,” but the moviegoers accepted the casting change. Feige also cited other iconic heroes such as James Bond, Batman and Sherlock Holmes whose characters lasted longer than the actors who portrayed them.
Tony Stark One More Time
Robert Downey Jr. is shooting “Sherlock Holmes” which some fans interpret as his moving away from his “Iron Man 4” role, the actor said he wants to play Iron Man, or Tony Stark, at least one more time. But fans of Robert Downey Jr. would have to wait longer before they watch him as “Iron Man” on the silver screen because the superhero movie is not part of the list of titles which Marvel will release for Phase 3.
Feige admitted he is anxious for every scene and character in every movie Marvel has made. He said it is the reason why actors who sit down for their first test screening, he feels nauseated. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more "Iron Man 4" news and updates!
