Christmas season is fast approaching, and what better way to spend the holidays than by getting together with friends and playing "Pokemon Go?" That's right, because Niantic Labs will be doing a major update this December for the worldwide phenomenal game, and it involves the much talked-about 100 Gen 2 Pokemon release.
But, before players get too excited, it's time to regroup and start strategizing now before they get into the wild, especially because rumors abound that legendary Pokemon are also set to arrive alongside this major update. Could it be true? Here's everything you need to know about the "Pokemon Go" Gen 2 update: news, updates, release dates and more.
Legendary Pokemon alongside Gen 2 Pokemon?
Apart from the sought-after 100 new Gen 2 Pokemon that may be making their way to "Pokemon Go" this December, reports are suggesting that legendary Pokemon are also included in this slew of new creatures. According to Venture Beat, not only will there be new features such as player to player battles, trading and egg hatching, among others, but legendary Pokemon may also finally be making their debut on "Pokemon Go" this holiday.
This was bolstered by earlier reports that legendary Gen 2 Pokemon Ho-Oh and Lugia will be among the confirmed Gen 2 Pokemon to arrive once the "Pokemon Go" update is live. Interestingly, Gen 1 legendaries Mewtwo, Mew, Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno aren't even on the code yet, or so data miners have found, which means that Niantic may be pushing through with its original plan to release these legendaries via a highly publicized event.
When the 'Pokemon Go' update will go live
Certainly players all over the world are salivating to get their hands on the "Pokemon Go" Gen 2 update. While there have been no specifics yet, several reports are confirming that it will indeed happen during the holiday season. These also include new features such as being able to hatch eggs, player-versus-player battles, baby Pokemon, among others.
