The reboot of the video game-turned movie, Tomb Raider's plot has finally been revealed. The "Tomb Raider" movie reboot producer, Graham King announced that the reboot that stars Alicia Vikander will be an origin story of Lara Croft during her early years. Here is what to expect in the adventure film.
"Well this is kind of what we call a 'back to the roots story,'" said Graham King in an interview with HeyUGuys. "It has a very emotional part to it and i think that's what Alicia found so interesting about it. I think the storytelling is really good and i think we've got the right crew and a great director and I think it's going to be really fun making a film like this," the "Tomb Raider" movie reboot producer continued.
The emotional "Tomb Raider" movie reboot will be a back story of a young Lara Croft in search for his long lost father. Graham King then detailed that the character's treatment is what the 28-year old, actress Alicia Vikander captivated for in making the film.
According to Collider, Vikander said that her experience with the "Tomb Raider" movie reboot's Lara Croft will help her get in to character even more. The "Ex-Machina" actress defined being part of the Angelina Jolie iconic film as "extraordinary".
"The kind of rebooted the game and it visually looks quite different and it's like I said, it's more of an origin story," she said in how the "Tomb Raider" movie reboot will differ from Jolie's 2001 version. "You're following this girl who, on her way to becoming what we all know her for, Tomb Raider, Lara Croft," she continued in the interview.
Vikander's Lara Croft version is reported to be inspired by the Square Enix's 2013 video game reboot for the PC and console players. The "Tomb Raider" movie reboot will be directed by Roar Uthaug and will be released in the theaters in 2018.
