Filming for Season 2A of Freeform's "Shadowhunters" is done. One of the series' lead stars, Katherine McNamara (Clary Fray) gave some ideas.
She hinted that they have wrapped up filming for the first half of the series' second installment on Instagram. Posting a quote about being surrounded by people who challenge you, McNamara said that she's thankful for being able to work with the people who are behind their show.
"Season 2A was a whirlwind," McNamara said. "I am so grateful to work with a group of insanely talented individuals who are passionate about their work and all things in life. I've learned so much from the Shadowhunters TV family. Here's to what I hope is only the beginning of an incredible journey. All of my love."-she added.
McNamara also said that while Clary was in a way under Jace's (Dominic Sherwood) helm in the first season, the tables will be turned in Season 2. Jace is confused about the idea of becoming a good shadowhunter and living like Valentine (Alan vanSprang), who claims to be his father. McNamara will, in a way, be the one leading Jace and helping him find his true identity.
McNamara was previously teased in an interview with VVV magazine that fans should watch out for her character's transition into a more extreme shadowhunter in the upcoming season of the show. The actress said that the first season showed Clary as someone who was very confused with her identity. Season 2 will see her grow into someone who doesn't need guidance and makes decisions on her own.
Aside from Clary and Jace's story, Season 2 will also have lots of MaLec scenarios. Executive producer Todd Slavkin told Empire magazine that fans of Magnus (Harry Shum Jr.) and Alec (Matthew Daddario) will be "really excited" about what's to come in the next installment of the series.
"Shadowhunters" Season 2 will have its premiere on Jan. 2 at Freeform.
