Mortal Kombat, the massively popular and addictive one-on-one gore fest from NetherRealm, is finally heading over to PC via Steam and other digital distribution services for $29.99. The collection – known as Komplete Edition – will amass all the previously released DLC in an all-in-one package, with a retail version set for an Aug. 6 release.
According to an official press release, the Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition DLC for PC includes the "fearless warriors" Skarlet, Kenshi, Rain, and the Springwood Slasher, Freddy Krueger, as well as the 15 Klassic Mortal Kombat Skins and three Klassic Fatalities (Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile).”
As far as details are concerned, Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition for PC “delivers action-packed single player gameplay through the full feature length story mode and the Tag Team and Challenge Tower modes. Multiplayer modes, including traditional 1 vs. 1 matches and King of the Hill mode, allow players to choose from an extensive lineup of iconic warriors from the Mortal Kombat legacy and challenge their friends to intense competitive showdowns.”
Additionally, PlayStation 3 owners can now pick up a digital copy of the original, non-Komplete version of Mortal Kombat at a discount. For this week only, Mortal Kombat is available from the PlayStation Network for $9.99, with the price slashed to $5 for PlayStation Plus members. The PS Vita version is also on sale for $9.99, or $5 for PS Plus subscribers.
Originally released in 2009, Mortal Kombat was a re-telling of the original game, but set in a new timeline, which allows for new takes on some of the games characters, storylines, and settings. Combos are more open-ended than they were in MK3, a new special meter allows for easier combo interruption, and the addition of X-Ray moves could help players dole out massive damage, setting them up for a nice comeback.
