'The Division' Latest News & Update: Patch 1.4 Creates Player Exodus; Ubisoft Listened & Delivered

Ubisoft's biggest success for this year is probably "Tom Clancy's The Division." The game has been previously under fire. Yet, since the launch of the massive patch 1.4 on October 25, gamers' major concerns have been addressed.

Figures from SteamSpy, suggests that "The Division" earned almost a million in PC sales within the year. A feat Triple-A games failed to accomplish all over even with console efforts. In terms of gamer numbers, there was a mass return in both interest and number of players.

Ubisoft claims that since the release of "The Division" patch 1.4, the number of daily users went back to the number the company enjoyed during launch. Anne Blondel, VP of Live Operations, was quoted by PCGames saying that people were so impressed by the game's major improvements. She added that it rebounded because gamers realized Ubisoft meant what it said. In addition, the company's developers took time fixing problems pointed out the community.

The VP was further quoted saying that some players abandoned the game much earlier than the company thought. She added that they have to make a very hard decision. The company was left with difficult options. Those were, should they continue providing players with additional content, or should they stop for a while, fix everything and provide content when the game is placed where it should be.

Communicating community concerns was a major consideration, with Ubisoft implementing plans quickly. Blondel said they listened to the community and when the issues were addressed, the gamers were happy about it. She noted that gamers were disappointed at first that the company chose to hold back the next DLC releases. She emphasized that they assigned a dedicated task force and deployed the works to the PTS. The feedback were helpful in making sure that the company was responding to the community, she concluded.

According to Blondel, it worked not only in terms of players count but as well as in players' attitudes, too. She added that they are positive that more players are coming back.
