Microsoft has decided to highlight its current generation console in the wake of the impending arrival of the next generation Xbox One. And to start off the process, the company has unveiled a brand new Golden Chrome controller for the Xbox 360.
The shiny new controller was announced by Xbox Live's Major Nelson who stated that new Xbox 360 Special Edition Chrome Series Gold Wireless Controllers will be available for purchase starting this August for $54.99 each. The controllers will only be available exclusively via GameStop and Microsoft Store locations for the U.S. customers, alongside other locations in select regions worldwide.
Interestingly, the new Xbox 360 Special Edition Chrome Series Gold Wireless Controllers also bears a striking resemblance to the special edition C-3PO controller. The C-3PO controller, of course, arrived alongside the special Star Wars themed Xbox 360 Kinect bundle that Microsoft unveiled at Comic-Con back in July 2011.
The only fact that nibbling us is with the new revelation is that the new controller pad will be arriving just three months before the eventual release of Xbox One. And to top off all that, sadly, the controller will be incompatible with Xbox 360 controllers.
Nonetheless, check out the new controller below.
