"Injustice 2," the much anticipated upcoming new title from NetherRealm Studios, will finally be hitting stores on the first quarter of 2017. With the hype certainly at its peak now, it is interesting to see how the new fighting game fares in the video game arena.
The game developers have released a video footage lasting for 15 minutes that showcased the gameplay of "Injustice 2." However, in spite of all the hype, teasers and previews, no exact release date has been set yet aside from the 2017 mark.
One of the reports has stated that GameStop may have possibly leaked the actual release date of "Injustice 2." This is despite the lack of official statements from both NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. The latest earnings report from GameStop reportedly contains the company's 2017 marketing plan. Titles such as "Mass Effect: Andromeda" and "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" has been seen in the First Quarter portion, along with "Injustice 2."
If this report proves to be true, then the release windows for "Injustice 2" would actually make sense, as the game would feature Wonder Woman. The upcoming film based on the Amazonian superhero is set to be released in June, so the hype from the film and the game would definitely pull each other's revenues. The fan boost for "Injustice 2" will help the game reach a wider gaming audience.
However, if "Injustice 2" comes out in the predict release time, it would certainly face tough competition. Other big titles are also set to be release during the same time, so players would have a harder time choosing between these games. These titles include "For Honor," "Halo Wars 2," and "Horizon Zero Dawn," in addition to those mentioned above.
"Injustice 2" would also be receiving downloadable content packs that would be aggressively released by the publisher and developer. Once the game is released in 2017, it will be playable through the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
