The fourth installment of "Iron Man" or "Iron Man 4" that Marvel's fans have been waiting is in the brink of cancellation. Although Marvel didn't announce the fourth Tony Stark movie, this is undeniably one of the most anticipated Marvel movies.
The fate of "Iron Man 4" became even more uncertain after the Marvel's head hinted that the superheroes might not be played by the same actors or actresses. This issue causes more speculations and rumors of recasting on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has hinted that the recasting of MCU superheroes is sure to happen. Feige cited the case of the new Spider Man, who already appeared in "Captain America: Civil War" and whom the audience embraced. Feige, however, also assured fans that this is not happening in MCU soon, even on the "Iron Man 4" film.
Feige told the Variety, "But you also look to history. We have a new Spider Man right now who was in our "Civil War" film and is in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," and the audience embraced him. You can look to Sherlock Holmes, James Bond and Batman as characters that last longer than any one actor playing them. There is a precedent for it in other franchises that suggests it is possible. But right now I don't want to think about recasting Iron Man, Captain America, or other superheroes and don't need to think about it."
Australia Network News reported that Marvel doesn't have to think about recasting or rebooting anytime soon. Feige said each of the MCU actors and actresses has signed up for several more movies. "Iron Man 4" is now safe from recasting, however, there is no official announcement for this movie's release date from the Marvel Studio.
As for "Iron Man 4," the Marvel Studios admitted that Robert Downey Jr. will be difficult to replace. He said it is hard to envision anyone else playing the iconic character other than Downey. Even for the other heroes of avengers like Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Captain America. These actors have already made their mark in the minds of the fans as the face of the heroes they portrayed.
There are speculations that Iron Man will be killed someday in the "Avengers" installment and will be replaced by Riri Williams who was also known in the comics as Iron heart. Downey Jr. will surely appear in the "Spiderman Homecoming" movie, Tom Holland's standalone film and "Infinity War."
