Fans are still reeling from Glenn and Abraham's brutal end in the "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere when another rumor pops up of regarding another death. But this time there might be some steam behind it as a tweet by the actor who plays Carl points out that producers might need to eliminate the character.
According to The Sun, Chandler Riggs, the actor who has been playing Carl on "The Walking Dead" since 2010 recently tweeted that he has been accepted to Auburn University in Alabama. While "The Walking Dead" Season 7 fans may think that there are probably ways that the studio and the 17-year-old actor to make some sort of compromise, the same source might have just debunked this. That is because Riggs' father, wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post, thanking AMC, the entire cast and crew for making the "little zombie show a big deal."
This may all point out that Season 8 of "The Walking Dead" will be missing Rick's son, Carl. While it is sad to see pioneer cast members go, this could also come a boon for the producers of the show. According to IGN, "The Walking Dead" is experiencing a serious steep decline in their viewers following the "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere. This could be attributed that some fans have lost interest in watching the show following the shocking death of fan favorite Glenn. For those who want to see some numbers, the season premiere got 17 million viewers while episode 5 dropped to 11 million.
Killing another character might seem counter productive if they want ratings to climb up again. But considering Carl's character is known but not a fan favorite like Glenn, it could be a good mixture of controversy yet not enough to turn viewers away. It is still unknown on how "The Walking Dead" Season 7 will handle Carl's departure, but one thing is for sure fans may start returning to show to see how Rick will fare.
