After retaining the WWE NXT Championship at NXT: Takeover Toronto, Samoa Joe finds himself defending that same title against Shinsuke Nakamura in Osaka, Japan two weeks from now.
Joe, the first man to have two reigns as NXT Champion in history, will have to go through another grueling showdown with Nakamura, this time the stage is set in the latter's home turf in Japan at NXT Live Event in Osaka on December 3.
"It was announced on last night's WWE NXT episode that new NXT Champion Samoa Joe will defend the title against former champion Shinsuke Nakamura at the December 3rd NXT live event in Osaka, Japan. This will air on the WWE Network but not live," via Lords of Pain.net.
The rivalry between Joe and Nakamura is currently leveled at 1-1 with the King of Strong Style winning the first match in Brooklyn and SoCal Brawler taking the equalizer in another physical showdown in Toronto on the eve of Survivor Series 2016.
Many wrestling fans and pundits view the Osaka title match as the final installment of the Samoa Joe-Shinsuke Nakamura rivalry in NXT. Joe losing the title to Nakamura would only mean the WWE is already calling up the former TNA and ROH champion to the main roster, where he's expected to have a feud with the monstrous Braun Strowman.
As for Nakamura, he's expected to continue his reign as WWE NXT champion and will likely take on Bobby Roode next.
-Meanwhile, Ring of Honor star Steve Corino will finally take his talent to WWE as part of the NXT brand. According to Prowrestling.net, Corino already signed a contract with WWE and is scheduled to work full-time trainer at WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Speculations of Corino moving to WWE started after he was featured in a recent WWE Performance Center video.
