Film producer Graham King recently revealed some plot details about the "Tomb Raider" reboot. King said the film is an origin movie, which will take viewers on an emotional journey.
King sat down for an interview where he talked about the plot of the movie and some film expectations. He assured that the "Tomb Raider" reboot will be different from the previous movie adaptations. He also shared a few details about the plot in the reboot.
King called the "Tomb Raider" reboot as a "back to the roots story," in a sense that it is an origin story. The film follows the young Lara Croft as she goes in search of her father. The film takes viewers on a journey with the lead, as she tries to find out if her father is still alive or dead.
Given the focus on the father-and-daughter story, fans should expect the film to be emotional. According to King, this is what attracted Alicia Vikander to portray the lead role.
"It has a very emotional part to it and I think that's what Alicia found so interesting about it," Graham King said in an interview about the "Tomb Raider" reboot with HeyUGuys.
Filming for the movie has yet to begin. Likewise, there have been no other details revealed so far about the "Tomb Raider" reboot. However, King sounded confident when he said that the movie will be a success, since the storytelling is "really good." He also expressed his excitement to start with production, as he is confident that filming for the reboot will be fun.
Aside from Alicia Vikander playing Lara Croft, details about the movie remain scarce. So far, Roar Uthaug ("The Wave") has been confirmed to direct the film under the production of Warner Bros. and MGM. The "Tomb Raider" reboot is slated for US release on March 16, 2018.
