Most fans might have known by now that the two studios, Marvel and 20th Century Fox, divided the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios own the rights to the "Avengers" titles, and 20th Century Fox Studios own the "X-men" titles. Is an "Avengers" & "X-Men" crossover possible?
Collider reported that Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox Studios had their fair share of interactions, making fans assume the possibility of an "Avengers" & "X-Men" crossover. One is the recent news of a character exchange between Marvel Studios "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2" and 20th Century Fox Studios' "Deadpool." The characters involved were Ego The Living Planet and Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
The next tie-up is FX's TV series "Legion." Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV division is producing "Legion" and his co-producers Simon Kinberg, Lauren Shuler Donner and Bryan Singer are from Fox. The same tie-up team was supposed to produce another series titled "Hellfire" but eventually the plan evaporated.
The Next Web reported that Disney and Sony came to an agreement to bring "Spider-Man" into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So fans are hoping Marvel Studios' "Avengers" and 20th Century Fox Studios' "X-Men" or "Fantastic Four" would follow too for a huge "Avengers" & "X-Men" crossover.
Marvel Studios' head Kevin Feige laid down the possibilities in an interview with Variety. He mentioned that Marvel Studios has enough films to keep them busy for a number of lifetimes, so an "Avengers" & "X-Men" crossover is impossible at this time.
Both Marvel and 20th Century Fox have their hands full for several upcoming movies and an "Avengers" & "X-Men" crossover is not one of them. 20th Century Fox is planning another "X-Men" installment focusing on Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique, James McAvoy's Professor X and Michael Fassbender's Magneto.
Neither Lawrence, McAvoy nor Fassbender gave hints on the future plans of the "X-Men" franchise. The contracts of the three have ended with "X-Men: Age Of Apocalypse." Lawrence further expressed that if one of them decided not to come back, none of them will.
Another on 20th century Fox's list of upcoming movies is "Deadpool 2," which they have just currently ironed out with their director fiasco replacing "Deadpool" director Tim Miller with "John Wick" director, David Leitch. Channing Tatum's "Gambit" movie was put on hold. "Avengers" & "X-Men" crossover is still definitely not on the list.
