iPad Pro vs. Surface: Microsoft Takes Jab at Apple’s All Too Familiar Design; Hinted on Latter Realizing it’s Actually a Two-in-One Gadget

It's not everyday you read news about Apple going after someone else's design. Microsoft recently talked about how Apple nearly copied their Surface design for the iPad Pro model. In an interview with Satya Nadella of Microsoft, he implied how Apple is slowly realizing the impact of the two-in-one concept.

In his statement, he said "Three years ago, the two-in-one as a form factor was questioned. And now guess what, even our competition has decided that it's not a refrigerator and a toaster, but it's actually a two-in-one."

Few years ago, Apple's CEO Tim Cook made some scathing comment about the Surface, saying it's a deluded and trying hard product. At the time, the iPad Pro was considered by Apple as a "computer". The comment rendered so much questions from Microsoft, but their prodding were left unanswered. Apparently, Apple wasn't ready to answer the questions pertaining to the iPad Pro's difference from the Surface.

The interview with the Australian Financial Review, Nadella mentioned how few years ago, nobody was keen on accepting the idea of the two-in one Surface. Now, it looks like everybody is trying to adapt the feature, including Apple with the iPad Pro. He also added that, the company's bold move to create a different concept brought them to where the Surface is actually standing now.

In the case of the iPad pro and Surface, Nadella said, they were aware of the great risk, the risk of something very unconventional in the midst of a heightened tech competition. He added that, it's all about how the Surface will fare in the market; hitting the average expectation. Without too much expectation of the Surface, it actually surpassed more than what Microsoft expected of it.
