The upcoming movie of Marvel "Black Panther" is set to be released in 2017. Angela Bassett joins the cast of the movie as T'Challa's South African-Born stepmother.
Bassett, who currently stars in "American Horror Story," will be part of "Black Panther." She will portray Romonda, a South African-born woman and second wife to the late King of Wakanda, T'Chaka. She is also the stepmother and main parental figure to T'Challa, the Black Panther.
Bessett is one of the immensely talented cast member of "Black Panther" movie, Chadwick Boseman will be returning as the titular hero, alongside Michael B. Jordan's villain Erik Killmonger. Forest Whitaker will play elder statesman Zuri, while Lupita Nyong'o will play Nakia, a member of the Black Panther's bodyguard Dora Milaje who might be a possible love interest for the hero. Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, and Florence Kasumba are also part of the cast.
"Black Panther" first debut in the Marvels Cinemaic Universe was on the "Captain America: Civil War." In the "Civil War" movie, T'Chaka dies, making T'Challa, seek revenge and justice for his father.
Independent reported that the rumored storyline is said to focus on T'Challa, the "Black Panther." His leadership, which is threatened when two strangers come together, forcing Black Panther to get help from the C.I.A. and the Dora Milaje. The majority of the plot is expected to be connected to the recent "Civil War" movie.
Fans know the film won't be an origin story, considering the character's beginnings were largely covered by the "Captain America's" recent movie. Avengers and other Marvel heroes might also appear in the "Black Panther" film, but there is no announcement that confirms their appearance.
The Hollywood Reporter stated that T'Challa is also one of the cast members in the "Avengers Infinity War," which also affects the storyline of the film. The first standalone "Black Panther" movie is being directed by Ryan Coogler. Production is expected to start in the first quarter of 2017, with a theatrical release slated for February 16, 2018.
