Sony is continuing on its path of devastating Microsoft's Xbox One, taking in an amazing 95% of the vote in a Facebook poll conducted by Amazon. The poll asked gamers whether the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will be their "console of choice."
Microsoft and its new console have faced a lot of criticism since unveiling the console at this year's E3 over policies like its online connection requirement for every 24 hours, and policy towards sharing and re-selling used games. A good deal of voters were quick to share speak their minds on the consoles, each choosing their favorite, occasionally crossing over to a new console. But like the votes, the majority of the comments supported the PlayStation 4 overall. Here's some of them:
Forest Sears - "I have loved the 360 this gen. That being said, not only do the xbone restrictions ruin it outright, the ps4 would be the better console regardless. It is $100 cheaper, has been confirmed to be more powerful graphically, and its focus is on games, not being a dvr that happens to play games. Sony is also allowing indie devs to self publish on psn, and you get so much back for the $5 you pay for the ps+ subscription. Microsoft will hardly give you a free theme while sony gives you 3 or 4 free game downloads each month with ps+. Anyone thinking that xbone is the way to go is deluded."
Dustin Lehman - "Microsoft has sealed its own fate with the requirements its pushing and that they are forcing Kinect and more TV down our throats. PS4 for me this generation. I saw more games for PS4 that I want than I did for Xbox One. and I am true hardcore Xbox fan, unfortunately Microsoft has made it the opposite for me this gen, Sony is doing things right this gen so far."
Unseelie Sluagh - "Definitely PS4. After all the crap Microsoft pulled with the Xbox One and then the arrogant response by Don Mattrick that: "Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called xbox 360" my response is 'no, Mattrick, it's called buying a PS4.' After the 360, I'm done with them. PS4 it is!"
Launched June 11, the poll was to run until the 20th, but after Sony won close to 40,000 votes compared to Microsoft's 2,100, Amazon cut the poll short, declaring Sony the winner early on.
Given the amount of disappointment gamers are expressing online, coupled with earlier reports from Amazon over pre-sale orders, the fact that Sony came out ahead isn't too surprising, though the sheer volume of the company's victory is certainly noteworthy.
Last week, both Amazon and Blockbuster reported that pre-orders for Sony's upcoming console and games had overtaken pre-orders of Microsoft's Xbox One.
