From the hardcourt to the movie screen. Milwaukee Bucks point guard Mathew Dellavedova is headed to Hollywood. A feature film is already in the works. The bio-pic chronicles Matthew Dellavedova's humble beginnings from the country Victorian town of Maryborough, Australia, up to the time he won an NBA title with Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Production is set to begin next year.
According to a statement released from Matthew Dellavedova's management team, the inspirational movie can be compared to other sporting films that were blockbuster hits like Gene Hackman's Hoosiers and Sylvester Stallone's Rocky. Manager Bruce Kaider said that everybody can relate to the journey of how Matthew Dellavedova got to where he is right now.
"Delly's inspirational story about overcoming the odds is one everyone can relate to," Bruce Kaider said. "In real-life, it played out just like a movie."
Zachary Green and Jason Shuman are said to be the producers of the film together with Bruce Kaider. Both Zachary Green and Jason Shuman are based in Los Angeles and have produced a number of big budgeted films including Mark Wahlberg's Lone Survivor back in 2013. Matthew Dellavedova said that he was "honored" that Zachary Green and Jason Shuman both felt that his journey to the NBA was worth making a film. He was also thrilled to be working with the producers of the film.
Matthew Dellavedova, 26, was recruited by Saint Mary's College of California in 2009. He finished his college career in Saint Mary's College as the all-time leader in scoring, assists, games played, free throw percentage, and three point shots made.
After his college career ended, Matthew Dellavedova joined the 2013 NBA draft and went undrafted. Not to be discouraged after going undrafted, Matthew Dellavedova joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2013 NBA Summer League. The Cleveland Cavaliers then signed him to a 2 year, $1.3 million dollar contract. The Aussie native played 4 years with the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning an NBA title in 2016 against the Golden State Warriors. As a result of his solid showing in Cleveland, the Milwaukee Bucks signed Matthew Dellavedova as a free agent to a four year $38 million contract.
