Avengers Alliance for iOS: Play only if you're patient enough [REVIEW]

As an overview, for those who are not familiar with Avengers Alliance, it’s one of most popular superhero games on Facebook that has now found a new home in iOS. And although the game, as expected with any other game, has a few rough edges, it still doesn’t shy away from providing a great time. Of course, everything depends on how patient you are with it.

For me, I seriously wasn’t aware of the popularity of the game on Facebook until it made an appearance on iOS. This is where I played the game and did a bit of research later on only to find out most of the people I know on Facebook are actually hooked on to the FB version of it.

As always with superhero stories, the Earth is in danger yet again, and this time from some sort of mysterious presence, apart from the regular super villains. Now, as a new S.H.I.E.L.D. recruit, players will get to team up with a host of noteworthy Marvel heroes in an attempt to foil any evil plots against our world and figure out just what exactly is the problem.

While a majority of the in-game missions involve the usual turn-based battle mode with various enemies, there is also the possibility of sending the characters on different side missions. These side missions are set over a certain period of time and allow the opportunity to earn extra experience (and extra cash).

Interestingly, heroes can be sent off on missions ranging from several minutes to 24 hours, and is a good way to keep the gamer hooked to the game even when the real missions seem like a bit drab (although that not the case at all).

On a whole, although the game makes use of a simplistic 2D animation style, it doesn’t move away from presenting detailed movement physics and detailed illustrations that are a treat to the eyes. The game allows players to train their heroes when they’ve acquired enough experience so that they can access new abilities that actually go on to make huge difference in numerous fights.

Of course, there are a few issues that you are bound to run into once playing the game. The most detailed problem that you will ever face is with the careful allocation of the in-game resources and experience you gather on your way to glory. As a word of advice, always keep an eye on the gold counter in the game and check if you are running out of it, or have enough to buy required stuff to progress to the next level.

Apart from this, the in-game weapons might also seem like a big deal that seem to coordinate with your fighting style and there are times when you will feel that you are stronger or weaker against your enemy with the set of weapons you possessed while you got into a fight supported by a number of support and attack abilities.

Avengers Alliance, as far as a free game is concerned, offers more than it meets the eye. However, don’t lose hope if you are feeling a bit hung down by the game at the start. Keep faith and continue playing the missions that await you. Just be patient and keep playing Avengers Alliance and they will you only notice the difference.
