The "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off series "Mayans MC" has created immense buzz with fans hoping to relive the insane world of bikes once again. However, one key character in the original series, Marcus Alvarez, played by Emilio Rivera, has no clue if he is in the upcoming spin-off or not.
This, in fact, came as a shock to fans as earlier reports had suggested that Rivera had confirmed his involvement in the show. Now, that the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off series "Mayans MC" is expected to debut in Fall 2017, Rivera's tweet that he is not even aware of his involvement, has shocked fans worldwide.
The "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off "Mayans MC" is being produced by none other than Kurt Sutter himself while Elgin James has been appointed as the showrunner. Rivera's character Alvarez was immensely important to the original series' plot as he played the president of "Mayans MC," the notorious Latino motorcycle club.
According to POP CULTURE, the series will focus on how the members of this gang will juggle between their business and families. However, if Rivera truly comes back to the show, that would put into question Charlie Hunnam's comeback as it is impossible for Hunnam to portray an 18-year-old Teller.
The "Mayans MC" is expected to showcase Teller's childhood. This also means Rivera's character Alvarez has to be 25-30 years younger. Thus, fans now believe that the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off "Mayans MC" will start from where the original series ended.
Another theory that is making rounds currently is that "Mayans MC" portray the same period as the "Sons of Anarchy" original series. This does not seem possible as that would require most of the characters to return to the spin-off.
The comic book "Sons of Anarchy: Redwood Original," created by Boom! Studios has teased a timeframe for the "Mayans MC" and it is also in line with rumor that it will be set during Teller's childhood.
