After being ruthlessly battered in the first round of his debut UFC match. CM Punk discusses the future of his MMA career and what the chances are for his comeback.
The former WWE superstar was submitted in the first round by Mickey Gall back in September this year. UFC boss Dana White has not given fight fans assurance whether the 38-year-old retired wrestler can go back and fight at the Octagon.
CM Punk Might Have A Chance To Redeem Himself
According to Forbes, however, Dana White might just consider to give Punk a last shot before telling the fighter to quit. CM Punk's wrestling fan base from WWE might influence Dana's decision to allow the Chicago native to redeem himself after a disastrous debut.
On a recent episode of MMA Hour, CM Punk confidently thinks that he's in the best shape of his life and talked about Dana White giving him another chance to compete. His inclusion in one of the fight cards would certainly benefit the UFC by drawing interest from CM Punk's popularity in his reign as a former WWE champion.
CM Punk Follows Trail Of Former WWE Champions That Joined MMA
Although not able to share the success of Brock Lesnar and the legendary career of Dan "The Beast" Severn, CM punk still continues to dream about making it in the UFC. The trend of former WWE Champions switching to MMA is an open secret; Bobby Lashley and Dave Batista also had stints from mixed martial art competitions.
The only problem with the trend is that some of these WWE superstars did not have the same training as their UFC counterparts. We have to consider that CM Punk, or Phillip Jack Brooks in real life, is 38 years old and has no martial arts experience before beginning his quest for MMA some years ago. Giving him a shot at redemption would certainly earn the ire of true fight fans that think other fighters who've earned their reputation should be the ones taking in the slots.
