'The Simpsons' Latest News & Updates: FXX Network Will Air 600-episode Marathon Starting On Thanksgiving Day

FXX is promoting its "Simpsons" 600 Marathon that features the first 600 episodes of "The Simpsons" which will start on Thanksgiving Day at noontime. A holiday-themed marketing campaign was also made by the network, which features images of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson.

According to Adweek, the "Simpsons" 600 Marathon's key art appears on bus stops and billboards that are made of usual Thanksgiving food such as potatoes, corn and pie. The holiday theme is offered to Snapchat-themed filters and promos all through the 13-day event which ends on Thu. Dec. 7 at 12 a.m that packs 600 episodes of "The Simpsons" to be aired in chronological order.

Additionally, it wraps up with the first four episodes of "The Simpsons" current season, the show's 28th, and finishes off with the 600th episode. SVP of Marketing with FX Networks Lance Reiss said that the "Simpsons" 600 Marathon is a continued celebration of "The Simpsons", which has been an American icon for 27 seasons.

In 2014, the first Simpsons Marathon was aired and it became a huge success, which made FXX the number one network to 18 to 49-year-olds and 18 to 34-year-olds throughout the 12-day marathon. FXX invested an estimated $750 million in a long-standing syndication rights to "The Simpsons".

FX Networks CEO John Landgraf told Adweek that if "The Simpsons" first marathon didn't work, the network's finances would be exhausted on its battle on abilities and resources for its improvement throughout the decade. "There was a lot of sticker shock associated with the price we paid," he added.

"The Simpsons" fans are all thrilled for the second marathon especially that it kicks off on Thanksgiving Day, which Reiss said would be a natural tie-in with the holiday season. The marathon key art depicts the Thanksgiving food items that look like members of the Simpsons family.

Matt Groening created "The Simpsons" for the Fox Broadcasting Company. It is an American animated sitcom and its setting is in the fictional town of Springfield and parodies American culture, society, television, and the human condition.
