EA reveals Mirror's Edge 2, new Star Wars: Battlefront

EA focused on its next-gen plans during the E3 2013 press briefing at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium. According to EA's Peter Moore, the publisher hopes to set a set the standard for games released on Sony and Microsoft's upcoming consoles. 

"These are the games that will define the next generation consoles when released next year," said Moore.

Xbox One will see Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare before Xbox 360. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will blend multiplayer shooter action with the traditional tower defense structure the game has been known for by the looks of the demonstration showcased.

Though the game made its grand reveal some hours ago at Microsoft's press briefing, Respawn Entertainment gave more insight into Titan Fall

Dice's Frostbite 3 engine would become the center of attention by showing a teaser trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront and Dragon Age: Inquisition along with new information on Need for Speed Rivals. The short teaser of Star Wars Battlefront focused on a battle in Star War's iconic freezing planet Hoth before concluding.

Need for Speed Rivals debuted a feature called "All Drive." According to the developers, it hopes to "destroy the line between single and multiplayer." The feature demonstrated showed a single player race smoothly transition into a multiplayer race where online player became officers of the law. EA also took the time to give a little insight into Dreamwork's Need for Speed (set for a 2014 release) film with lead star Aaron Paul of popular series Breaking Bad.  

EA Sports took up a majority of the presentation by revealing new information on Madden, FIFA, MMA and the reintroduction of NBA Live. Showing some of its muscle, EA had Grammy Award winner rapper/singer Drake give an introduction to FIFA.

Battlefield 4's single-player was shown at Microsoft's press briefing but EA made multiplayer its focal point. The biggest news came through the "Commander Mode" announcement. "Commander Mode" gives an birds eye view of the field and allows the commander to direct or advise commands through the controller or tablet. 

Saving their biggest surprise for last, EA revealed its heavily rumored sequel to Mirror's Edge. By the looks of the trailer, Mirror's Edge 2 may allow series heroine to grapple enemies.
