FIFA 14 is the newest upcoming Soccer iteration from EA that is set for a launch later this year. While EA is slowly providing us with all the details and changes following up to the game, one of the most important factors of the game – Precision Movement – has been detailed.
As stated by EA, this time around, the player locomotion technology is calculated on a step-by-step basis, and players in the middle of a tense game, who don’t want to see all the things leading up to an animated video and had complaints about the same in FIFA 13, can now relax.
“New to FIFA 14 is Precision Movement, a feature that recreates the dynamic movement of real-world players. Precision Movement was created from new locomotion technology developed by the FIFA team. Locomotion is fundamental to all areas of gameplay, determining the way players move on the pitch,” the official page states.
The developing team behind the game says that the FIFA team, for the past two years, “has been developing step-based locomotion technology that will enable players to move around the pitch in the most realistic way possible.” Taking a cue from this technology, the team “has created Precision Movement for all 22 players on the pitch. Now, every step counts as players pivot, plant, cut and shift momentum with true explosiveness and agility.”
The Precision Movement, which has recreated the biomechanics of real-world athletes, is said to enable players to accelerate and decelerate with dynamism, and with momentum becoming an even greater factor than it ever was.
Players are now said to show small bursts of acceleration before reaching their maximum velocity, and “this wider spectrum of speed unlocks greater build-up as well as more attacking opportunities. For example, attacking players can toy with the opposition by controlling their pace before accelerating to get past their defender.”
Moreover, one of the most important points of Precision Movement is when players decelerate or change direction. And whereas, previously, players were able to change directions almost immediately, and were limited to turns within 23 degrees, in FIFA 14, however, sprinting players will carry the impetus and can now move in any wanted direction. Although the players may need to take additional steps as they decelerate.
FIFA 14 will be releasing later this year on Sept. 24 in North America for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
