Square Enix’s upcoming role-playing title Final Fantasy XIII, the upcoming installment in the massively popular Final Fantasy franchise, has finally got an E3 trailer, alongside a list of details regarding the game’s release date and characters.
Final Fantasy XIII, which is the third game in the series as far as following the chronicles of Lightning is concerned as she fights to save the world from total doom, has a new trailer that showcases the release date for the game on Xbox 360 and PS3. The game will be available on Feb. 11, 2014, in North America and Feb. 14, 2014 in Europe.
“With today’s reveal, we’re showing off the lively city of Yusnaan, and the adventures that await Lightning, including colossal monster battles and the new action-oriented battle system. Additionally, Lighting’s former ally, Snow Villiers makes a return to the series with a storyline that underscores how the title has gone through a complete refresh, with an updated look from the previous two installments,” the official page states.
As far as changes to the franchise are concerned, the trailer shows off some of the in-game combat. And it seems like the title will be taking a much more action-oriented approach as compared to the previous Final Fantasy titles.
Apart from the fact that Snow Villiers making an entry into the new game, we also get sneak peak of Noel Kriess, one of the protagonists from Final Fantasy XIII-2, attacking Lightning for their own special reasons.
Final Fantasy XIII is set to arrive with a fast-paced combat, alongside a new system, called “Crystarium” for the series for determining which abilities are developed for the characters. There is also a customizable "Paradigm" system present to control which abilities are used by the characters.
The game is said to take place in the fictional floating world of Cocoon where the current government, the Sanctum, has ordered a cleansing of civilians who are believed to have contact with Pulse, the not-so-much celebrated world below.
The player here steps into the shoes of Lightning who is fighting against the government to save her sister who has been tagged as a servant to a god-like being from Pulse, and hence making her an enemy of Cocoon. Lighting will soon be joined by a group of allies to aid in her fight.
