With the fans already taking sides in the war between the next generation consoles, a big determining factor will be exclusive titles - the games that will only be available on a particular system, giving gamers the nudge they need in determining the console they want to buy.
Microsoft only recently unveiled their new console, the Xbox One, but the company is already out of the gate with some exclusive titles, the latest of which, is TitanFall, a new IP for the company.
Information on this new game comes courtesy of an erroneous early release of Game Informer. Subscribers were somehow allowed to download the issue from the Google Play Store a few days in advance, giving us this tibdit of information.
According to the magazine's details, TitanFall is an FPS, where players have their choice of romping around, doing battle on foot, or in gigantic mechs called Titans (no prizes for guessing what most of the gamers will be choosing). It's rumored that Valve's Source engine will be utilized for the game alongside Microsoft's Cloud service for servers and in-game calculations. Respawn Entertainment is currently developing the game for release on the Xbox One and PC, while another studio is working on a version for the Xbox 360, with EA set to publish all three. It will be the first game for Respawn to develop since being formed. Still, it'll be a while bfore we see a version for any platform, the game's not scheduled to release until spring of 2014.
Game Informer had timed the issue to release next week during E3.
As for the reason behind the exclusivity, the article claims it's the result of limited resources, in particular, the staff size. "Not to say we won't [go multiplatform] in the future, but for our first game we wanted to focus on making the best game we could," said the firm. There also looks like the bad blood between Call of Duty co-creators Vince Zampella and Jason West and their previous employer Infinity Ward will be discussed as well.
Thanks to the poster at the NeoGAF forums for leaking this one.
