‘The Last Man On Earth’ Season 3 Episode 7 Review: Melissa Left The Group While Gail Is Stuck In An Elevator

Season 3 Episode 7 of the post-apocalyptic comedy television series of “The Last Man on Earth” was filled with chains of events which eventually left Gail Klosterman (Mary Steenburgen) being stuck inside an elevator, unbeknownst to anyone else and Melissa Shart (January Jones) parting from the group.

Entertainment Weekly reports that “The Last Man on Earth” Season 3 Episode 7 started off with Carol Pilbasian (Kristen Schaal) trying to get a family photo with her now official mother, Gail. However, Gail felt that Carol was coming on too strong and tried to get away to have some private time with a glass of wine. Carol eventually found her and accused her of drinking too much which enraged Gail even more. In the heat of the argument, Gail grounded Carol to her room and tried to seek out another place to be alone.

Meanwhile, Lewis (Kenneth Choi) located a flight simulator and with Tandy’s (Will Forte) help, was trying to learn how to fly in hopes of traveling to Tokyo one day to look for Mark, reports TV Fanatic. After experiencing a third blackout, they figured out that they were using too much power and decided to turn off the power of nearby buildings. Unbeknownst to them, Gail had found refuge inside an elevator and is now stuck with no power to operate the elevator.

Melissa broke up with Todd (Mel Rodriguez) for refusing to have a baby with her in “the Last Man on Earth” Season 3 Episode 7. She then asked Tandy to make a baby with her and was rejected. All this time, Melissa had been strapping a baby doll to her front and treating it like the real thing. Todd tried to reason with Melissa again by professing his love for her but the plan backfired and Melissa decided to leave the group, leaving behind the doll with a note that said “Good-bye”.

Recapguide has captured a series of stills of “The Last Man on Earth” Season 3 Episode 7 which chronicles the entire episode, complete with Gail’s reluctance to cooperate for a family picture to her ending up alone in an elevator. It also shows Gail with the baby doll strapped to her body to her eventually letting it go.
