"Scandal" is set to return to the small screens with an explosive Season 6 premiere that will feature the final electoral battle between Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) and Frankie Vargas (Ricardo Chavira). Latest spoiler news also teased of the potential reconciliation between former lovers Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn), and other exciting details.
Recently, ABC released its teaser clip for "Scandal" Season 6 that showed several interesting scenes such as the presidential race between Mellie and Frankie, as well as a touching moment between Olivia and Fitz, the series' incumbent U.S. President.
Released through ABC's official website, the clip featured scenes that showed Fitz with a very worried expression on his face. At this time, it is unclear if Fitz is stressed about Mellie's presidential campaign or if the ABC show's U.S. President is worried about Olivia.
The former lovers even had a tense confrontation where Fitz appears to question Olivia about something that may potentially put her and those around her in danger. Despite their disagreement, it seems that Olivia and Fitz still have a special bond with each other. Another scene in the "Scandal" Season 6 teaser clip showed the former lovers sharing a quiet moment where Olivia laid her head against Fitz's chest.
Meanwhile, Mellie may find herself at the losing end of the presidential race, as hinted in the "Scandal" Season 6 preview. The presidential candidate may be ready to give up the fight, but Olivia will be adamant in her quest to have Mellie win the election.
In other news, Olivia and Fitz may appear to have a chance to rekindle their romance once the ABC show's incumbent U.S. President step down from the Oval Office. However, Scott Foley shared in an earlier interview with Variety that Olivia has definitely chosen Jake over Fitz.
Foley, who portrays Jake in "Scandal," recounted the heartbreaking scene between Olivia and his character where she chose to save Jake's life over their relationship. Declaring her love for Fitz to save him instead of choosing Jake for herself was a sign that Olivia really loves Foley's character. The actor added, "She sacrificed herself and her love for him."
"Scandal" Season 6 is scheduled to premiere on Jan. 19, Thursday on ABC. Watch the trailer below:
