“Girl Meets World” Season 3 is still having its run on the Disney Channel but speculations are rife that it may be nearing its end. Fans are anxiously waiting for the renewal assignment from the network, but it appears to be not forthcoming. But, the fans continue to hope and work for a fourth season even if it has to happen in another network.
There is an ongoing online petition initiated by “Girl Meets World” fan Ashley Carter to get a fourth season for the series according to TV Line. 25,000 signatures are needed for the online petition but with already 17,000 supporters, it only needs about 8,000 more signatures to meet its target.
Many speculate that the future of “Girl Meets World” will largely depend on another network picking it up for a fourth season. As previously reported in Gamenguide, fans are hoping that Freeform TV to be the first to consider it since the network currently airs reruns of “Boy Meets World”, the original series from which the series is adapted from.
It is being speculated that the “Girl Meets World” cancellation might be due to its cast maturing and their recent graduation from high school may no longer fit the younger viewers of the Disney Channel. But, with fans clamoring and even being very vocal about wanting a fourth season, the network might be reconsidering the decision to cancel.
If ever “Girl Meets World” Season 4 happens, it is expected that lead actresses Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter will return to reprise their roles. However, recent news indicate that Carpenter will not be returning in order to focus on her music career. She just recently launched an album titled “Evolution” which might have tour and concert dates that will be in conflict with “Girl Meets World” Season 4 filming schedule.
The mother series, “Boy Meets World” premiered in 1993 with Ben Savage starring as a young Cory Matthews. In its sequel “Girl Meets World”, Cory is now all grown-up and married. The storyline now is focused on his daughter Riley played by Blanchard as she goes through pretty much the same problems as her dad when he was at the same age.
