Weeks after the launch of the Huawei Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro in China, the company unveiled the Mate 9 Lite on its website but without any details on the availability or pricing just yet. Arguably the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world hasn't prepared some kind of distinctive event for this model, deciding instead to secretly unleash it on its list it as it debuts today online.

In a report by GSM Arena, there are two hardware variants that will be up for grabs; one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and the other having 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The Mate 9 Lite's dimensions are 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm and it weighs 162g. It has a full metal construction and a fingerprint sensor on the back. This light phone will be offered in gold, gray and silver. Pricing and availability information haven't been announced yet.
Key specs include a 5.50-inch display, quad-core processor, Kirin 655 processor, 8-megapixel front cam, 12-megapixel rear cam with flash, 1080x1920 pixel resolution, Android 6.0 OS and 3340mAh battery. Other general details include a non-removable battery, non-expandable storage, WiFI connectivity, with GPS and Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphones, 2 nano-SIM slots and 3G/ 4G/ LTE speed.
